Got a good deal on an intake

Picked up an AEM Brute for just under $100 shipped. Just got it installed, and well... no big deal. Not too noticeable of an improvement. It might take hills with a bit more ease, and up my MPG, but I'll take a week and see for myself.

I've installed them in both a 01 Jetta and a 97 Honda we still have, and it seemed like a bigger improvement on those vehicles... but... whatever.

The "intake sound" didn't change at all though, which was one of the things I was really expecting, that I liked on the other vehicles. Maybe I should have gone with American Muscle kit. Oh well, live and learn.

I like how it looks, even though it's like putting a chandelier in a haunted house. Dirrrty engine bay.

I know that, it's just that in the 4 cyl cars, that was the most noticeable difference.
However, maybe I have an exhaust drowning out the noise...

The intake you have still sucks in hot air from the engine bay so the difference really shouldnt be too noticable. Yes it does have more air running through it than the stock parts so it is an improvement but not as much as if you get the fenderwell CAI kit. For about $40-50 more you could have got the Summit Fenderwell CAI kit

thats prolly doing less for you then the stock air box at least that was sucking cooler air through the fenderwall. you need more air your intake wasnt restricting you as much as the MAF and throttle body. upgrade those and you see a bigger improvement. single mods dont do as much as a correct combination. get a plan down of what you want then buy it peice by peice.

Just kinda going at this thing one at a time.
But thanks for the input.
MAF, TB, and Manifold...?
Any recommendations? I just want a little extra pep for my DD, not a race car.

for a desent dd a 75mm accufab throttle body with a 76mm c@l maf. go on ebay and buy a 3.5" elbow to turn it to the fenderwall.
a good intake is gonna depend on what you want out of the car a simple explorer intake will proly surfice for now.
