no need for a rivet gun for plastic rivets if its a diy at home thing vs money & time

Get you two pairs of pliers, close one, slip the stud part of the rivet through the hole on the closed pliers and push them against the head of the rivet, take your other pair of pliers and pull on the stud as you press down on the head with the other pair, itll pull and pop, cut the remaining stud off (as you have to do with most plastic rivets) and youre good to go.

Body business (or related) is ****ed up, crooked, backwards, etc. No matter what end you look at it from. Thats all I can say.

You also have to think of it from their perspective. Most people just buy **** they want, take it to whatever shop or dealership to have it installed, then go online and tell their friends how cccccccooooooooooollllllllllll or baddass their car is (bc in the end all they did was spend a little money right? anyone can do that). In the end lrs looks at it that way as well im sure, you buy part, you take it to be installed, shop has tools, its installed, there you go. Other end of that they expect you to buy tool from them bc youre too dumb to buy it else where. NOT saying youre dumb...thats just how things go. Where as other people can get them for free.
Lol, its just like those people that think they have a nnnniiiiicccceeee house, and someone else built it.

As for the rivets, can't you just drill holes large enough for the largest rivet your gun can handle, then just add a washer under the head of each rivet to cover the slightly larger hole in the holder? Then you would not need another gun. You could have 5k worth of tools and still won't have the one tool you need when the time comes.

Reps for that. Very good way of thinking, never though about it in that sense (a house). You can also ditch the rivets and use coarse thread "hybrid" 10mm/phillips p3 screws such as a lot of the jap cars use which I think is better in the long run.

If you want to put a little time in it: I made an L bracket(more than an L actually)bolted the plate to it and then bolted it to the bumper support. the license plate is in the stock location but did not have to drill holes in bumper cover.

I do have a saleen front bumper with a HE, but should work with a 03 cobra also

If your already putting holes in your bumper for rivets why not just use some corse thread 10mm's Its no different and its gonna bite in the absorber and never come off.

I donno. I dont have to run any of that bs. So cant give you any info on it.
I know what you mean, I bought a large riviter from them and it broke the first time out. You get what you pay for. No more harbor freight for me:(

Yea **** happens. Im a die hard snap-on guy (thanks steve :wave)...but I do have some things from harbor freight...Not gonna pay $50 a wrench that I use once a month vs $5. But it all comes down to what you buy. Some things from habor freight will just break on the first try, others will last. Hell even a 26mm wrench from them (donno brand off top of head) has more flex in it when getting on it than a 10-19mm snapon flank drive plus.

Me to man but I roll to Crapsman for the cheapness.... I can't do Harbor freight. I will have you know that I am very unimpressed with craftsman now that they sell wrenches now with their name on it with the "made in china" stamp. When I saw that, I almost shed a tear:(

I don't have an absorber in my bumper because of the intercooler.. I'm just worried the screws will come out. Maybe I should just bolt it.

Coarse thread wont come out. Ill bet my left nut on it. Not gonna tell you any different....Ive ran those mofos in with a 7.4v makita impact quite a few times in the past (even done a few with a snapon mg325) stripping out the "bumper threads" like no other. Have yet to had a come back bc of one. The coarse threads wont allow for it to pull out especially with what little stress is involved.

THESE ARE NOT ACTUAL PICS OF WHAT YOU NEED...JUST EXAMPLES OF THREADS...

This is a coarse thread...notice how the theads are far spaced?

this is a fine thread

How much of a hurry are you in to get this done? If you can wait a few days I can grab some from work on monday and send them your way. Got a load of them laying around.

Yea exactly. But a coarse thread has farther spaced threads vs a fine thread...thats the point. As said those arent exact pic....its just an example, and a drywall screw is far from what you want to run in there.

If you cant find any and arent in a hurry let me know and ill get some your way. The ticket for no front plate stilll $150 over there? Pm is best. Im usually not on here during the week and sundays but I get back to pm's. You can get a hold of me on that facebook junk too.
