Racing seats

There are quite a few threads on weight reduction and swapping to racing seats, but so far I'm having no luck finding one that addresses comfort.

I want to swap out my front seats for a lighter racing seat, and Corbeau is right in my price range. I want a seat that is comfortable but also keeps me planted in corners. I'm 6 ft tall and 180lbs if that helps any.

Also, what all did you change out during the swap?

Youre going to loose some comfort switching too a "racing" style seat. To maintain some comfort adjustment is key, a seat that can recline etc. Look into the recaros that are available for the newer mustangs, you can sometimes score a set cheap used

Racing seats are made for racing. If you have higher expectations than that you are going to be disappointed. Firmness and rigidity are necessary for racing seats to do what they are designed to do and neither one of those characteristics are going to aid in comfort.

That's kinda like asking for 600 hp and good gas mileage.

I went with the Corbeau TRS Full leather reclining..
They keep me planted !

I also agree!

There is always going to be a give and take in this situation.
I had great experiences with Corbeau CR1's and Sparco seats on my past applications. I am currently in debate as to which seats to drop into my car.
Either CR1's or LG1's.

be patient and get the reclining race seats, or you can just go with the corbeau (spelling). you need seat brackets, not included, but alteast they bolt up to stock locations with stock hardware. if you want a harness then you will need to put in a harness bar.

There was a resistor fix that I did on my Subaru for the airbag light when installed my Sparco seats and steering wheel.

IIRC, it was a 3.3ohm resistor. Worth a shot...

If you are aiming for a particular competitive class, you might also check specifications requirements for racing seats; IE do you need FIA certified seats, backbrace etc. Easier to make a choice based on you goals.
