i bought my SF3 from a forum member a while back, tried it out to scan a few codes and it worked fine. sent it off to SCT and got it back in about 2 weeks with them unlocking it for me. just bought my tunes from AM, get them loaded up, toss my CAI on the car and plug up the SCT for that magic moment. THE SCREEN WILL NOT LIGHT UP!! tried it on my Vic and same song and dance. wont turn on. itll work like a champ when hooked into the computer. BAMA says the cord is bad, but i cant see how SCT managed to screw that up when unlocking the tuner... any ideas?

See if they will sell you a new cord.

Or check the connections in the plug and where they go into the unit. It's about the only place where you can screw up the cord.

the teeth are all fine on it. none bent or damaged at all. its obviously something they did if it was working fine before they touched it, now it doesnt. im pretty hot about it right now, but ill cool off and call them tomorrow.

Not that I am defending anyone or anything I just can't see them touching that cord. I would think if it was just being unlocked they would use the serial port on the handheld. And I don't think it would have to do with the software/firmware, it sounds like it is physical/mechanical like a bad connection. Could have been damaged during shipping too. I don't have mine handy right now but I'm wondering if there is a way to pop it open to take a look.

Be calm though, I know it's quite an inconvenience and a real emotional let down, but they may be able to help you without getting all uppity about it. Could be something real simple.

Does the SCT have a seperate power input? I know i could power up my Diablo unit with a seperate convertor. Do you have a laptop? I'm wondering if you can power it up with your computer and plug it into your OBD port at the same time. IDK, just reaching here, trying to help you get your tunes loaded up.

SettinHooks,

I'm really sorry about the headache your device is giving you. There's clearly something going on with the connection, majority of the time when it will work on your Computer but won't power up to your car, the Cord is bad! This could have been caused by a few things, could have happened during shipping, during the unlock process etc..

I really wish I could be more help, but since the device wasn't purchased through us, I can't do as much as I'd like to! However, I know SCT will get you squared away very quickly. Make sure you get in touch with them!

Let me know if you have any questions or need some further assistance!

well, cooled off last night and called SCT today. they were a big help. for only $250 they would be happy to fix it for me and could have it back to me in 1 month. so i very politely told them where they could insert their tuner and even offered to help, cause im just that nice of a person.

long story short, called AM back today and Ryan was chomping at the bit to help me out, as all the AM/Bama guys always are! refunded me the 150 i paid for the tunes and for $269 he tuned and mailed me a DiabloSport inTune programmer. ill have it on Friday. cant say enough how ashamed i am of SCT for their lack of customer support, and i also cant say enough about how pleased i am with American Muscle and Bama for their service and support! even got a T shirt out of the deal. haha
so if anybody needs it, ill give away this SCT POS...just pay shipping to get it out of my house.

Because if we could all use each others handhelds they would not make any money. They charge you so the revenue will help offset the loss of selling a new unit. At least they offer the service. They could really be penis heads and just say they can't do it and then where would you be? Buying a new unit at full price.

Free enterprise/capitalism. We all our in business to make money. It's the price we pay. We could all work for society and the common good. And then we could have everything provided for us by the state and we would all be good, right? What a great idea! What should we call it? Marxism sounds good, doesn't it?

Lol... Just effin with you. Basically they do because they can.

Well at least you will have your tune loaded up soon. Wish I would have known that you were going to switch to Diablo. I have an extra Predator that I could have sent you cheap. Now that I use Shelby for my tuning it has just been gathering dust in my garage.

I used it for 4 years without a hitch. Only switched to SCT when I went with Shelby for my my dyno tune. I also understand that you can do a little more transmission tuning with the SCT. But I haven't had any issues with my SCT XCal3 either.

well i really hope it keeps working right for ya!!
mines a manual, so trans settings dont matter too much... but what i AM curious about is the idle adjustment... what all can you do with the idle without messing anything up? mainly down the road when i get my cams. i LOVE that loping idle. i care more about the sound than i do the power...
