so i might offer to buy these headers, but theres 2 things im worried about

1. Is the rust going to be an issue? i have a sandblaster, so i could get that rust right off and do whatever else needs to be done to prevent rust i the future

2. Is the ceramic coated headers a good quality? i dont want to have any issues in the future with these headers, so as long as they last the lifetime of my car then im happy.

thanks guys

What headers?

#3 ·
probly the ones on s197forum....I spotted those too...pretty rough for my taste, if I could get them cheap enough, I'd sandblast them and ship 'em to jet hot for a fresh coating.

ceramic coating is top of the line. but since there is rust. the coating is worthless. so you have to view them as a rusty set of headers, the ceramic coating is out of the pictures. maybe its just me, but i'd stay away from rusted set of headers unless you get them dirt cheap enough that you can afford to restore them. ..a good ceramic coat should last a lifetime if your not driving in winter with salt and sand and such that will be abrasive on the coating.

if you don't mind the rust... get them but it wont be worth tryung to fix them... just wrap them with that silver heat wrap.. it wont look too bad if you take your time

#6 ·
Looked at those, too. With the pro chamber or having an H or X fabbed up to fit them you could buy brand new Pacesetter headers. If it was $300 for the set, I would get them, but it's $450. Since you can sand them, you would be a good candidate for them.

Sweet, well if he takes my lowball offer then I'm on that ****. Itl be nice to be able to put on some headers to match my hot rod cams I just bought :D:D

#8 ·
I would just pass on those bro. You can remove all the rust from the outside, inhibit it from returning, but I bet there's some rust on the inside too. That will fester like a cancer and rear it's ugly head.

#9 ·
I'd pass on those. I snagged brand new coated pacesetters for $365

#11 ·
If just get dif headers, but they won't fit my prochambers without cutting/welding ****, and I def don't wanna mess with all that lol

#10 · (Edited)
i just picked up a set of brand new coated pacesetters for 335 shipped ;)...would have been 325 last night but i waited and the coupon expired.

#12 ·
nothing will except shorties

#13 ·
Yup.

#16 ·
yup macs "shorty" pro chamber will fit their midlength. Their one that bolts to stock headers will only fit shorties. It wouldn't be hard for a shop to make your prochamber fit pacesetters tho cuz it's a slip fit connection really simple

#17 ·
:O this changes everything lol totally not getting Mac headers then, I'd much rather but some pacesetters or kooks. So would I have to let a shop do the complete install, or can I just bring the midpipes/lt headers and tell em "makes these fit"?

#18 ·
The only thing I'd be worried about is getting the lengths perfect. If you'd like, if you pick some up I could measure how far back my headers go, and you could just tell a shop that, and they could probably make it all work. And with the slip fit you've got a little room for error as well which is good

#21 ·
That would be awesome man, thanks! I actually have all the tools to do this, so I might take this challenge on, me and my dad could probably knock it out...

#19 ·
Headers would have to be installed first (unless they are doing that too) and then hand them the PC, they will finish it off ;)....or weld them up yourself if you got a welder.

#20 ·
That too^^ drive that bitch open headers down to the exhaust shop ;) but make sure catless is legal in your area otherwise they likely won't work on it

#22 ·
The ball flange style connectors (like on the Mac headers and stock manifolds) is a lot more difficult than the slip on style :)

#23 ·
Mac headers are definitely off the list. What would y'all suggest? I'm just gunna keep searching till a pair pops up in the classifieds. So far I've heard that pacesetters and kooks and good

#24 ·
Like I said earlier I just bought a pair of pacesetters for 334.99 shipped! Off a site I've never heard of, so I paid with paypal, I hope I get them....

#25 ·
lol! That's cheap as ****, I wouldn't worry about it tho. How much are they off am?

#27 ·
Guess it's good I don't care all too much about getting headers lol I know that cams are almost nothing without a good pair of headers, but I'm in it for the sound... :p
I'm on that **** when a good deal pops up to

#29 ·
Meh, I'm in no rush, LT's pop up all the time anyways, shouldn't be but less than a month when I can find a good pair. So for the pacesetters, are there more than one type of them as far as painting/metal goes? I can't keep up with all the different types of metal and finishes that are used to with headers lol

#30 ·
Yea amazon jacked their prices lol. But for 335 shipped, you can't beat that. The black ones even painted will not last as long as the ceramics. That and they are basically the same price. I would NOT buy the black ones.

The pacesetters either come black with the cheap crappy coating or silver ceramic. The ceramic is leaps and bounds better.

#31 ·
They have that armor or ceramic coating whatever it is that holds up better from all the reviews I have read, especially in climate's that actually have season's. The only personal experience I have with them is the black finish on a buddies GT. The coating started cracking off after 6 months or so. All we did was buy a can of high temp spray at auto zone and it fixed it right up, no issues since then. I just want the ceramic coated one's when I get em for the looks of it over the black coated one's.

#32 ·
I paid for my headers early this morning, I already have a fedex tracking number :)....not sure if it's an empty box, but something is coming my way! Hahahahaha.

Streetsideauto.com and they have a $25 coupon (was 35 but expired overnight).

#33 ·
Ceramic it is. So as far as other headers go, what should I look out for when purchasing (as far as metal/finishes go for other brands). And what are some good quality headers? Or should I mainly just try to get pacesetters and kooks? Ive seen jba(I think is the name?) and pypes(which I know sucks lol).

#55 ·
I posted a link I thought...streetsideauto.com has them for 360 but 10/28-11/1 they have a 25 coupon.
