Not sure if this will be a loaded thread or not. I'm sure most of these answers are on here or I could Google, but whatever.

Ok, first thing. I want to go single turbo come spring time. What suggestions do you have for kits and why? Right now I'm thinking Hellion or On3. These two due to Google searches and most good(ish) reviews. So between the two I've read that On3 is cheaper (of course) and plenty of people swear by them, but they have fitment issues with mediocre (at best) turbos and wastegates with piss poor design and material on their piping. On the other hand, I've heard that the fitment issues are not prominent with Hellion along with having better quality piping, turbos, and wastegates. Keep in mind that I still don't have a tubular set up in front so I would need that when I buy a kit. What are all of your opinions? I've heard that the On3 kit is fine with upgraded turbos and such, but if I'm looking to go too much beyond the stock shortblock limits I should go ahead and get the Hellion kit. I'm really leaning toward the Hellion kit as of right now.

If I had to do it over again, I'd go with on3 2nd gen FF kit, I'd use it as is if I didn't have the money to upgrade anything... If I had the money to upgrade stuff then I'd do so, on3 is awesome minus a few fitment issues but thats really only in the 1st gen kit, the 2nd gen kit has minimal pipes so less room for fitment issues..

Hellion is good as well, but a lot more expensive.

currently have the on3 FF kit. header bolt holes didnt line up, and hotside piping hits on my passenger side tie rod.

You will hear good and bad about every kit out there, be prepared to make few fabrication adjustments if that's ok with you then the on3 kit will work for you. If you cannot fab up from the down pipe back then CG fabrication is not for you. If you don't have 6K then the hellion kit is not ok.

Fact is they all work and it just comes down to being able to fabricate a little bit.

It's very much you get what you pay for.

On3 will get the job done, but won't be quite as nice, and you'll have to make adjustments yourself.

Hellion is top notch, includes everything, and has better fit and finish, but you WILL pay for it.

CG Fabrication is nice, but they're not complete.

Also FWIW, I see you're in southern Indiana. I've got a set of up-pipes that were out of the car below you can have for about $100. They're a bit rusty and one corner has a hole in it, but you can clean them up and it's got all the flanges. I was going to use it with my HX50 but I ended up with twin 66s.

The few responses gave me a little bit more of an idea on what to think about. No fab shop around and would rather be able to just install with the least amount of fabbing as possible. The reason I've been leaning toward the Hellion more than the On3 is because it does come with everything needed and it's the parts I actually want. I think the quality of the Hellion system and the fact that I would end up buying the supporting parts that might or might not work with the On3 setup warrants the cost of the Hellion system.

Hellion is nice but gives you horrible ground clearance. Very dumb to run a system under a j frame.

I would not consider simply because of thier price, Also look around youll see people upgrading those Turbos as well. Not that im saying they are bad but like anything else if you look around hard enough youll hear bad things wih the exception of CG Fabrications I have yet to hear any quality issues with that piping. Like Scott mentioned I have heard of piping getting scrapped up and off due to it hanging down low. Persoanlly any one of the kits will get the job done with a little fabrication.

If you cannot fabricate either pay the bug bucks for the complete kits or buy a supercharger.

For the price I still think the on3 kit is a good. I've had pretty good luck installing their forward facing kit. Enough luck that I currently have their hot side waiting for my 5.0 when I get back from school.

With turbo's you get what you pay for plain and simple.

If you want a cheap kit your going to get cheap components. One thing about turbo's is there all not made equal. A turbonetics 76mm isnt going to make nearly as much power as a precision 76mm. A Chinese brand wastegate isnt going to have the same diagram materials as a tial or Precision wastegate and may fail over time etc ect.....

Just something to keep in mind. What I've learned from my experience with on3 kits is they come with cheap components, cheap piping and a poor design. Plain and simple. I've had to do more modifications to my friends kit then we really should have at this point, we've had to remove his single wastegate and add 2. We've needed to change turbos. His piping is cracking and you've gotta remove the back of the kit every time we need to pull the trans.

I haven't had any experience with there forward facing kit, but this is just my experiences with there older kit. The car I'm referring to makes around 600rwhp

The early On3 kits weren't that great. I got to check out a newly installed forward facing kit last week and its light years better...it could also be that a professional shop installed the later while a shadetree DIYer with questionable skills installed the former. In the end the On3 kit is a cheap turbo kit. You can't get in a new blower or turbo setup any cheaper anywhere. The Hellion kits I have seen have their fitment issues as well. You can make a lot of upgrades for the $4000 difference between the two kits. I just wish you could get the On3 kit without the turbo waste gate.

How many people do we know with on3 waste gate failures that didn't take it apart and put it back together wrong? I do know there are a few folks on this site making some awesome power with this kits.
