so Im building my first mustang, scratch that my first car, and I noticed that magnaflow catted exhaust cost about 150 more than the same flowmaster system. My buddy has been telling me that the magnaflows "flow" better (I trust your opinion Josh) but do they really flow 150 dollars worth better and will it make that much difference in the end when it comes to power and 1/4 mile times?

Yeah, sure they flow better, but nothing to worry about for an exhaust system. Get what you think sounds the best. You make power with headers and a midpipe, not mufflers. I prefer the sound of Magnaflow over Flows.

Thats the best answer there!!!!!!!!!n Its all opinion and that will vary from person to person so its up to theh individual to decide when it comes to sound.

Agree there. pipes are for sounds.. get good long tubes and it will all be good.

Magnaflow I believe claims everything they make adds power, but anywho, a catback doesn't add more than 3-4 hp and so it's just your taste. I like my Magnaflow and think it sounds sexy whereas Flowmaster sounds like a older rough n' tumble car.

another person with the agree bandwagon.

even the flows sound great, I really like the smoother sound of magnaflow myself.. to me it sounds more professional and grown up. That and you won't suffer from the flowmaster drone on the highway.

you decide, that's stock vs magnaflow and stock vs flowmaster...

you decide,
Example: my bassani legit sounds EXACTLY like this when i keep the baffles in.

And not all flows drone!

mags are stainless and the flows arent (unless that changed recently?) thats where your $150 goes

Macs are the best of both worlds IMHO

They do make stainless steel Flowmaster catbacks now. I would have went this route if they made the SS Flows 4 years ago when my catback rusted through. I went with something newer and still chambered: JBA Evol stainless steel catback for the same price as an aluminized Flowmaster catback. I got it from ninosport.com, but they don't carry it anymore.

Here is the SS Flowmaster catback.

i like my magnapacks, i was cheap 12 years ago and just had them welded into the stock stainless pipes. They still sound great 50k miles and 12 years later :)

For me an offroad pipe or even high flow catted midpipe and chambered mufflers sound the meanest. My MRT catted h with Flowmaster catback sounded deep and loud. Now my ARH longtubes with catted x pipe and JBA catback also sound great.

Just an example of flows with o/r pipe.

thats my exact setup and you hit the nail on the head with the sound description with hi flow cats. Still have the Deep tone with the chambered muffler but its alot smaller than the other 40 series flows and that along with the single chamber the sound is VERY decent imo.

it would have been easier just to Say what you decided that you went with that You personally like bc your "shopping cart" says empty.

Magnaflow will sound better, look better, .
Some ppl like hamburgers and others like cheeseburgers thats not saying one is Better than the other purely opinion!

I went with the BBK off road x pipe and the Flowmaster super 50 series cat back exhaust... I like the way it sounds the best and the little bit extra flow from the magnapacks doesnt seem worth the extra 100 since I like the way flowmasters sound more than the magnapacks..... Super 10s are just too loud for me they sound nice but really really too loud
