Fox your giving alot of people **** for this search button thing. I wouldnt be getting pissy with you if you could have just said Try using the search button. But you gotta get smart with me you asshole.
Dont take it personally... Im a smartass by nature and an equal opportunity asshole.

;)

But yes, I have been giving people **** for the search button as 75% of the questions asked have been asked and answered before. It gets frustrating seeing the same question over and over.

8" wheels = 245's
8.5" weels = 255's
9" wheels = 275's
10" wheels = 305's
10.5" wheels = 315's

These are max recommended width (there are some variables) for nearly all manufacturers of tires. One can go a bit wider without any real problems, but going much wider will not only cause strain on the sidewalls, but poor performance and uneven wear. Oversized is also just a waste of width, so buy wider wheels.

Jazzer :)
+1 to that...same recommendation from all tire shops/online stores I've EVER dealt with for safety of the bead. I was taught the same in the tire shop I used to work in. Bead will unseat under heavy load or acceleration. I ran 255s on my stockers before I switched to my 17x9s. Only running 275s on those.

you can use this calculator. enter in stock specs and new rim/tire specs, and it adjusts for rim, tire, offsets, and compares to stock sizes. it also tells if you might have a problem clearing wheel wells, fenders, speedometer, revs/mile, circimference, tire diameter, sidewall, etc.

Just curious but have you ever put 315s on a stock wheel?
I don't think anyone here us retarded enough to try. I had some 285's on an 8.5 wide wheel and that looked stupid. A 315 needs a minimum of a 9in wide for a 17" wheel and for an 18 or 20 u need atleast a 10in wide. Don't argue with me. I know more than u ;)

You need a minumum of 10.5" to run a 315 per manufacturers specs, but a 10" would not be too bad :)

Don't argue with The Jazzer ;)

That's the funniest thing I've ever seen. The buldge on that tire is hilarious. Personally, I don't think I'd run a 315 (Depending on Mfg) on anything less than a 10.5-11" wide wheel. My Nitto NT555R 305/35/20s fit awesome on my 20x10s. As far as the OP, a 275 would be okay on the stock wheel but even that's pushing it in my opinion.

315s will fit on a stock wheel... there are lots of threads about this....
That's the ****ing dumbest thing I've ever heard. I can't even imagine how horrible it'd drive.

Just curious but have you ever put 315s on a stock wheel?
No, have you? Do you have any pictures of it? We need a laugh.

^ at least you have some profile hight in which the tire can at least attempt to make the transition. The pic I have above is like a 35 series.... EEK!

Jazzer :)

no more bulge on the 315s on stock wheels than there are on the 275s on 8" drag wheels

and you can see where the 315s are worn and i only lost about .5" of section width touching the road.

And how do you figure the math there?
8.5" - 8.0" = .5"
315mm - 275mm = 1.6"
So for a half inch more rim you have one and a half inches more tread width.
To me that seems like you would have another 1/2" of bulge on each side of the tire. Yeah, that's freakin' the same bulge, isn't it?

Yeah we can see you lost only .5" of usable tread on the edge........ and your tire has two edges so you lost a total of 1" of tread. Do the math again, 1" = 25.4 mm. So why not run a 285 and have the same amount (well almost) of usable tread and call it a day.

Whenever I see a car with the wrong size tires on it, all I can think of is rice. Yeah, I said it, but I can say it 'cause I'm Asian.

The freaking question wasn't "what size tires should I run?" It was "can these fit?". I answered the question the way it was asked, gave proof, and pictures. So....... Because you or anyone else thinks its stupid, pointless, or rice is irrelevant. He asked a question. And has been given a CORRECT answer with examples.....

Alright im not that retarded so im not gonna even attempt that. I knew id need to get bigger rims or get mine customized but i just wanted to know what size would work on stock rims just to know. And also what rim size id need to run 315s. Thank you alot for answering my question and not giving me a stupid answer like some people ^. And mystang before you say **** im just messing with you.

Going on and fitting aren't the same thing, so u still aren't correct... Try again.

Some questions need to be addressed for their viability, NOT just whether you can do so or not. I don't care if you have run such a tire for any lengh of time, if you are going to approve such a fitment, you are irresponsible to NOT include the risks and/or issues associated with such an installation. You have made the following statements earlier in thread:

they dont look all that bad but as stated. you wont use the full potential of a 315 tire. but if you already have the tires, you can put them on the wheels
To install a 315/35 tire on an 8" wheel is not only an extremely poor fit and downright dangerous, but it WILL "fit"! If someone said you could jump off the Empire State Building and I was answer the question honestly... I would say you can!
