It doesn't just become un-timed. You took it to him, got everything "fixed," put it back together, and when it wouldn't run you pulled it apart to find that the timing was wrong. Ruh roh.
It was never confirmed that the timing was off, they did the timing just to be safe.

Im wondering if the pcm didnt brick itself somehow

Ah. Got it. Memory's a little fuzzy over here. Just ended 3 weeks straight of constant travel that ended with a wedding. To say I'm exhausted would be an understatement.

The pcm is your cars computer, you can brick it in a few ways, a power surge, disconnecting a tuner while its loading or downloading a tune, sometimes they die on their own as well

they will only line up about every 50 rotations or so, that's the way it was on my old 2v motor anyways. you can have everything in time with the chains and tensioner on, turn the motor over one complete rotation and it will appear to be off 1 tooth. in reality its not. hard to explain, I had a thread on this a few years ago when I was helping Cabikejumper get his hp292 cams in his car, which he 'effed anyways lol.

No lol.

As long as the timing marks lined up, everything is fine. As far as not recognizing the cams, the car has no freaking clue what cams are in it. The CPS doesn't take readings from the cam, it takes it from the phaser.

If your timing was that far off, you'd be bending valves. Your timing is fine. You have a ****ed up sensor somewhere or something thats not plugged in. The crank keyway is supposed to be at 1 o clock or 2 o clock, but its irrelevant as long as all your timing marks lined up.

And they all did.

Check your crank sensor down by the crank pulley. Its on the passenger side. Did you remember to put the crank trigger wheel a back on?

Not true. If your timing is 180* off you have the same piston to valve clearance as you do with it timed.

omg LOL so guess what, that bitch was un plugged ahahaha my god that hilarious. Atleast im pretty sure that what it was, it was tucked under the engine where you said, right by the crank. anything i should do before trying to start it or just let it rip?
